2022-05-25&26 流動繩網陣 香港遊樂場協會

Mobile Rope Course is jointly organized by Counselling Team and PE Department on 25 and 26 May this year. Before the activity days, a team of experts came to school to set the eye-catching rope course in the school playground. Rope course is a very popular and challenging outdoor activity for personal development and team building. It usually consists of high and/or low elements. High elements are usually constructed on trees or utility poles and ropes. For safety consideration, there are belays to keep participants from tangles while playing. Students enjoyed the training in our school campus as it saves a lot of travelling time and more students could benefit from it. Our prefects, ambassadors and sports members were invited to taste this fruitful experience after school.

Three-day Winter STEM Camp (18th to 20th December 2021)

A team of four SEK students (Su Jialin, Wong Hau Hei, Chen Megan, Igloria Chloe Faye) guided and trained by Mr. Chan Ka Wai and Dr. Singh Manpreet joined the three-day Winter STEM Camp organized by the Construction Industry Council (CIC) of Hong Kong from 18th to 20th December 2021. Competing against 21 teams from local schools, our school team grabbed the Champions Trophy.
The first two days of the camp were at Construction Industry College in Sheung Shui where the students learned the basics of engineering skills and constructed a working model of a tower crane from scrap materials. On the first day, the students used the concepts learned in their physics lessons to design a working model of the tower crane and construct it using wooden pieces. In order to adjust the length and load of the tower, they had to do careful and meticulous calculations. On the second day, the students learned about different engineering techniques and used different engineering tools to finalize their model.
The last day of the camp was held at CIC-Zero Carbon Park in Kowloon Bay where the students had to demonstrate their working models to a team of judges. The most important part of our students' model was the design which was inspired by the environment. Showcasing their green tower crane, the students displayed excellent presentation skills in front of the selection panel.
This STEM camp boosted the students' confidence in dealing with real-life science problems and gave them a taste of a career in engineering.
